Pumpernickel is a comedy about a serial killer that breaks into a home and is confronted by a dog that only wants to play. Whacky hijinks ensue as it becomes apparent the dog cannot be beaten. The film shares some similarities to the pilot of Brad Bird's Family Dog.

THEME

There is no moral, it's just a gag film.

CHARACTERS

Pumpernickel
– A chubby welsh corgi that isn't well known for his intelligence. Still, although not very smart, Pumpernickel always means well and loves to play with others. He also has some bizarre biological make up going on, for it seems that he is completely un-phased by any sort of injury.

Onion the Axe Murderer
– A man that takes his occupation quite seriously, Onion is man who loves his work. Onion isn't much of a talker, and he gets stressed when things don't go according to plan.

SYNOPSIS

Late at night, Pumpernickel is eating from his bowl until he hears a strange noise coming from upstairs. He scampers up the stairs and sees Onion breaking into his home through the window. Onion, busy with getting the home doesn't see Pumpernickel until he hears panting. As he turns, it becomes evident that Pumpernickel only wants to play, doing such things as wanting his stomach rubbed or picked up. Onion tries to shake him off by kicking him or even chopping him up with his axe, but none of them do anything. Eventually, Onion is inched to the stairs, where he ultimately falls and breaks his neck. Pumpernickel's family wakes from all the commotion.
